Abstract

JUNIOR, Atilio Butturi. The necropolitics and as resistances in the pictorial-political Adriana Varejão’s discourse. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2019, n.Extra, pp.81-92. ISSN 0874-6885.

This work aims to analyze the intersections between gender, coloniality, and race in the pictorial discourse of the Brazilian artist Adriana Varejão. The corpus comprises images from the Terra incógnita series, problematized according to the order of biopolitics and necropolitics, apparatuses that are produced under the aegis of government, disciplines and violence. The hypothesis is that Varejão inaugurates an aesthetic-political heterotopology, anchored in strategies of cannibalism and resistance that challenge, from a diasporic perspective, the colonial feminine and racialized corporalities.

Keywords : necropolítica; Adriana Varejão; colonialidade; gênero; racismo; necropolitics; Adriana Varejão; coloniality; gender; racism.
