Abstract

PEREIRA, Bernardo Futscher. George W. Bush and Islam. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2008, n.19, pp.105-117. ISSN 1645-9199.

When George W. Bush took office in 2000 he intended to scale back U.S. engagement in the Middle East. September 11 changed all of that. The “War on Terror” became the main priority of American foreign policy. Under that label the administration has followed an aggressive and determined course of action in the Middle East. Seven years later, the results of that strategy are, to say the least, controversial.

Keywords : George Bush; War on Terror; Middle East; Political Islam.
