Abstract

PAUTASSO, Diego  and  JUBRAN, Bruno Mariotto. The Russian's foreign policy turn to the East and the intensification of the China-Russia energy cooperation. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2019, n.61, pp.77-93. ISSN 1645-9199.  https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2019.61a07.

This article analyzes Russia's foreign policy towards China focusing on energy cooperation. The purpose is to understand the “turn to the East” of the international performance of Moscow and its factors. We propose the hypothesis that one of the effects of the resurgence of the use of force by the United States and the siege of the Eurasian space has been the approachment between China and Russia. The result has been the leverage of regional integration (OCX, UEE and New Silk Road) providing the region with modern transport, communication and energy infrastructure. The orientalization of Russian pipelines, which is then part of Kremlin's turn to the East, may be not exactly a choice but an imposed circumstance. In short, us unilateralism may cause several effects on expectations in the context of emergence of a new power configuration in the world.

Keywords : Russia; China; energy cooperation.
