DAEHNHARDT, Patrícia  and  GASPAR, Carlos. Portugal and the revision of NATO’s Strategic Concept. Relações Internacionais [online]. 2020, n.67, pp.75-88.  Epub Dec 31, 2020. ISSN 1645-9199.  https://doi.org/10.23906/ri2020.67a06.

For more than a decade, the transatlantic community has faced a growing crisis resulting from the change in the distribution of international and regional power that has led to its erosion, with serious implications for the transformation of the security context for Portugal, Europe and the North Atlantic. Portugal is one of the founders of the Atlantic Alliance whose defense is inseparable from the alliance with the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and, as such, has an obligation to contribute to the preparation of the new strategic concept of NATO and to defining its strategic priorities in the face of the new international balance of power.

Keywords : NATO; Portugal; strategic concept; transatlantic security community..
