Abstract

MELO, Marta Gomes de; PASSARINHO, Rita Marquez  and  RELVA, Andreia. From hematometrocolpos to cervical cancer: when a negative co-test is not reassuring. Acta Obstet Ginecol Port [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.3, pp.242-244.  Epub Sep 30, 2023. ISSN 1646-5830.

The great majority of malignant lesions of the cervix is associated with human papilloma virus (HPV) positivity and/or altered cytology. We describe a case of cervical cancer with a normal co-test, in which the occurrence of hematometrocolpos in postmenopause led to the correct diagnosis.

Keywords : Cervical cancer; Human papilloma virus; Cytology; Hematocolpos; Hematometra.
