Abstract

Background:

Empathy is considered an important clinical competence for the Development of health professionals. The empathy is directly related to the quality of health interventions.

Aim:

The objective of this research was identify methods for teaching empathy in teaching nursing through a rapid review.

Methods:

A rapid review was carried out in journals with relevance to the theme of nursing education.

Results:

Was listed 190 articles from the journals them 21 articles were selected for qualitative analysis, according the criterion of exclusion and inclusion. In the results, seven different methods of learning application were found. They approached simulation as their main strategy, looking experiences similar to reality, the use of the arts as poem, storytelling and music was also evidenced like methods of learning.

Conclusions:

It is concluded that due to the importance of nursing in relation to human vulnerability, methods that perpetuate empathy during graduation are needed to improve science of care.
