Abstract

CANTALOZELLA PLANAS, Joaquim. Questions on alterity in the work of Xavier Ristol. Estúdio [online]. 2012, vol.3, n.5, pp.170-175. ISSN 1647-6158.

The notion of alterity is fundamental in the works of Xavier Ristol. This paper analyses the two main branches of Ristol's work: one in which the artist proposes the dissolution of the self in the presence of the other in order to establish guidelines for an art defined in ethical and ethnographic terms; and another which takes as its point of departure the artist's reflections on life experience, aligning his work with the vital circumstances of other people's lives.

Keywords : contemporary art; alterity; video; theater; Xavier Ristol.
