Abstract

GONZAGA, Ricardo Maurício. Against the grain of religion: Flávio de Carvalho and the ballet of the death of God. Estúdio [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.10, pp.134-140. ISSN 1647-6158.

The article examines the performative action of Flávio de Carvalho, polyvalent figure of Brazilian modernism, Experiment # 2, in which he walks covered with a green cap against the grain of a Corpus Christi procession in the center of the city of Sao Paulo, in 1931. Approaches the narrative of the event by the author to his own theoretical texts devoted to the analysis of God and religion and to a play to try to infer possible illuminating links between practice and theory.

Keywords : God; religion; body; experimentation; Brazilian art.
