Abstract

PEREZ-JOFRE SANTESMASES, Ignacio. Juan Rivas: a painting in a place. Estúdio [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.11, pp.93-103. ISSN 1647-6158.

Juan Rivas painting approaches the subject of the Galician territory, focusing on some buildings that can be found there, made with no planification nor taste. His technique has been based on taking photographs that are used as references for the painting. But recently he has made a series of work whose motive is painted straight on site from observation. This article analyzes the implications of this change and the viability of life painting as a method for contemporary art.
